Year 2 of StepUp for Down Syndrome approached us fast. We are busy with public special education class PreK in the AM, full inclusion daycare in the PM, and all kinds of therapy before and after the school days (Speech, Occupational, Physical, Behavioral, etc) . And swim classes on the weekend. And we parents are in transition on jobs to accommodate the schedule demands.

Through all of this year's chaos, Down Syndrome Network of Montgomery County (DSNMC) has been a constant. We received so many calls this year about new families joining our network and seeking resources. We were able to provide these families with well stocked bags of resources and a community of support.  We were able to reach more doctor offices this year with pamphlets on up-to-date information on Down Syndrome. This was because of your generous donations last year.  You made this happen.

We need our community support to keep moving forward on a personal and organizational standpoint. Knowing so many of our loved ones and friends near and far support us, and our community, really help in keeping us strong day by day.

This year, as part of being on the Board of DSNMC and using my job as a Physician Assistant, I hope to reach more Obstetric offices to provide patients with up-to-date information on Down Syndrome, which is rapidly changing. As Coordinator of Playgroups, I want to provide fun, playful outings where our kids can utilize the skills they have worked hard on in therapy with a fully inclusive environment of similar age typical peers.

We cannot survive without your help and we thrive because of your support. No donation is too small. Some activities per child per month are $5. Just covering the cost of one child one month helps cover our expenses.

Your gift directly supports existing programs for individuals with Down syndrome and the surrounding community, enabling DSNMC to offer a variety of free resources to our members. Some of these resources include:

Award-winning annual education (Techniques for Success) conference for teachers, therapists and parents

Resource bags & materials for new & expectant parents

Award-winning leadership training workshops for teens & young adults

Support and social group for spanish-speaking families

A variety of social events

New family welcome breakfasts & seminars

Tools for Schools Workshops for families in Montgomery County Public Schools

These are just few ways in which your giving will make a difference!

DSNMC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Your contribution is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. No goods or services were provided in exchange for your generous financial donation.

Thank you thank you thank you. A million times.
